Dr. Mayhew grew up in Magnolia, Arkansas. He received his dental degree with honors in 1997 from the University of Louisville. He then immediately entered endodontic training at the University of Louisville. In 1999, he earned a certificate in Endodontics with a masters degree in science.
During his studies at the University of Louisville, teaching, research, and clinical experience were highlights of his education. Dr. Mayhew published several research articles in the Journal of Endodontics on post retention and nickel titanium files. His study findings are a vital influence on his practice today.
As a result of his academic achievement and outstanding clinical skills, he received several awards during his education. All are an honor to Dr. Mayhew. However, some of his most important awards were the Outstanding Achievement in Science, Outstanding Achievement in Oral Medicine and Oral Pathology, The International College of Dentists, Dean’s Award, Excellence in Prosthodontics, Achievement Award in Endodontics, and Membership in the Omicron Kappa Upsilon Honor Society.
Dr. Mayhew has truly found his calling in endodontics. After residency, he enjoyed treating patients from Texas, Oklahoma, and Arkansas in the town of Texarkana. His referring dentists nominated him as a “Texas Super Dentist”, which is a great honor to him.
Moving to Colorado in 2005 was a childhood dream fulfilled. Colorado Springs is now home for him, his wife and two sons. During his time practicing in Colorado he has been honored with the “5280 Top Dentist Award” and being named a Colo Spgs Magazine’s Top Dentist for the last 8 consecutive years.
Outside of endodontics, Dr. Mayhew enjoys any time spent with his family and in the outdoors.
